The Odisha government on Friday approved 14 investment proposals across 10 districts, involving a cumulative investment of Rs 2,780.1 crore and employment potential of 14,104 as part of its efforts to accelerate industrialisation under its Samruddha Odisha 2036 vision.
The proposals were cleared at the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg.
The projects span food processing, agro and food processing, textiles and apparel, chemicals, pharma, medical devices, electronics, steel and ferro alloys, steel downstream manufacturing and infrastructure.
Among the largest employment-generating proposals, the SLSWCA approved a Rs 251.45 crore readymade garment manufacturing unit to be set up by Sahana Clothing Company Pvt Ltd in Dhenkanal district. The proposed knitted baby and kidswear unit is expected to create 5,104 jobs.
The food-processing sector is set for a significant expansion, with Haldiram Snacks Food Pvt Ltd proposing a Rs 500 crore snacks and baked-products manufacturing unit with employment potential of 800.
In agro and food processing, Tiwana Nutrition Global Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 140 crore in a cattle-feed manufacturing unit, expected to generate 2,500 jobs, while Premium Chick Feeds Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 105.38 crore in a chick-feed manufacturing unit, creating another 1,054 jobs.
The textile sector will receive another Rs 125 crore investment from Pratima Agro Spinning Mill Pvt Ltd, which will set up a textile-processing unit in Balangir for cotton yarn and associated textile waste products. The project has an employment potential of 400.
Chemicals and chemical products account for three of the approved projects. Prasol Chemicals Ltd will invest Rs 450 crore in a phosphorus-based derivatives manufacturing plant in Ganjam.
New Generation Manufacturing Pvt Ltd will establish a coal-tar distillation and by-products manufacturing plant in Sundargarh with an investment of Rs 80 crore. In Nuapada, Haasvan Rasayan Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 55 crore in manufacturing bulk drug intermediates, generating 70 jobs.
Odisha is also seeking to strengthen its emerging medical-device and electronics manufacturing ecosystem, with Sastasundar Healthbuddy Ltd proposing to set up a medical-device manufacturing unit in Khordha with an investment of Rs 56 crore.
Syrma SGS Technology Ltd has proposed to invest Rs 300 crore in manufacturing printed circuit board assemblies and box-build products in Khordha district.
Mahatripurasundari Minerals and Metals Pvt Ltd will establish an integrated complex in Keonjhar covering ferro alloys, chrome derivatives, metals recovery and chrome ore beneficiation. The project entails an investment of Rs 160 crore.
In steel downstream manufacturing, Shree Jagannath Ispat Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 90.94 crore in Cuttack to manufacture colour-coated sheets, corrugated and plain GI sheets and GI structural components. Similarly, NKS Earthbuild Ltd will set up a structural-steel manufacturing unit in Dhenkanal with an investment of Rs 60.98 crore.
Meanwhile, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) has proposed to invest Rs 405.35 crore to develop a private railway siding for the Subhadra Coal Mines in Angul. The siding will connect with the existing Angul-Balaram Siding and the proposed Gopalprasad station under the Khordha Road Division of East Coast Railway.
